A quick guide
Set up your circle. Then handle the day.
Co-parenting runs on a lot of small agreements. This guide walks through each one using our sample family: Sarah and Mike share Ava (13), Emma and Leo (7). Grandma Jo, Grandpa Ray, step-mom Lisa and sitter Maya help out. Everyone in it is made up.
Task 1 · Either parent starts it; both parents are equal
Set up your family circle
Create a circle after signing in. Open Family → Parents & helpers to make an invite for the other parent. Create separate helper invites, then review the four optional access switches for each member.
Every permission change is logged, so both parents can see who changed what.
Task 2 · Parents set it; everyone can see it
Agree on the schedule
Open Schedule → Change rotation. Choose the pattern, start date, parent A and parent B, and handoff time. Check Next 2 weeks before saving other plans.
Need to trade days? Send a swap request with a reason and an optional reply-by date. Until the other parent accepts, the usual schedule stands — nothing changes quietly.
Task 3 · Parents and helpers
Make handoffs smooth
Open Schedule → Next 2 weeks. Expand Essentials on the relevant handoff day. Add any missing packing item and mark packed items; add transition notes to that same day.
Task 4 · Parents assign; helpers can drive
Cover every ride
Open Pick-ups, find the event and edit its ride details. Set each leg’s driver, time and address; choose same address if appropriate. The assigned driver confirms, then marks the leg done. Child accounts are excluded from driver choices; an overdue flag calls for follow-up, not proof of a missed ride.
Task 5 · Parents, plus helpers you allow
Share costs fairly
Open Budget & requests → Expenses. Add the amount, child, date, split and receipt. The non-paying parent approves it, reimbursement is recorded, then the original payer confirms receipt. Use the statement date fields for a CSV or print request. These steps record acknowledgments; they do not transfer money.
Task 6 · Kids ask; parents decide
Give kids a voice
A child opens Requests, adds a title, amount, reason and needed-by date, and submits it. Parents open the same request to discuss it in the parent-only area before recording the final decision.
Task 7 · Parents
Start a topic conversation
Open Messages and start a topic or choose an existing thread. Draft the message; use a neutral starter or optional tone check before Send. Sent messages cannot be changed through ordinary controls. A read receipt does not establish agreement or understanding.
Task 8 · Parents
Prepare a selected records report
Open Records, set the dates and child filter, select sections, and review the preview before Print. Reports are uncertified summaries, not independently verified or guaranteed admissible — see what records can and can't show.
Try it with the sample family
Open the demo as a parent, helper or child. It's all made-up information.
